Test and Training

Test and Simulation

A cornerstone of ISIH’s capabilities from it’s very founding has been a high level of expertise in System Integration and Testing. Over the years, there has been a greater reliance on, and requirements for, simulation as a tool for test and evaluation of complex systems. ISIH has produced such simulators when the need has arisen and now has a formidable suite of testing and simulation tools that have also evolved into effective Training Systems for operators.

Trainers and Simulators

ISI Hellas develops a range of Training Systems. These include ground-based trainers for Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) Aircraft, Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA), Surveillance and Counter-battery Radar, and Embedded Trainers for shipboard Combat Information Center (CIC) systems. The Training Systems are comprised of an Instructor Station (IS) and one or more Trainee Stations (TS).

A TS may be either an actual operator console or a simulated console that provides the trainee with the same look, feel and functional feedback as the actual console. The TS elements are networked with the simulation engine in the IS that provides simulated battle and tactical data in a time synchronized format to emulate activity on all of the system’s external interfaces. Trainees are presented with simulated radar, data links, communications links and tracks that can be scenario driven or manually operated by an Instructor.

Trainees are able to interact on a real time basis with Instructors who function as pilots, upper or lower echelon command centers, linked units or weapons platforms. This provides more realism to the training session and better prepares the trainee for what might be encountered in a real-world situation.

The instructor can prepare simple or very complex scenarios of varying durations to provide the trainees with a wide range of realistic threats and situations to react to. The edit function allows a previously saved scenario to be modified and saved as a new scenario. Scenarios can be paused during execution in order to emphasis a certain learning point. The Instructor may also modify a scenario on-line to add new elements or alter the tactical situation during execution.

The most versatile of our Training Systems is also an excellent System Test and Verification tool. The Universal Test and Training System (UTTS) is found under the Test and Simulation area of the web site.
